The Bachelor Pad is located on the North Side of Chicago, built inside an abandoned building on the grounds of a foundry. The arena was built by Anton Finkle Sr. as an early wedding gift to his son, Anton Finkle, Jr. The idea behind the arena was that the groom and his friends were to use it for their bachelor party. As a safety precaution weapons fire was to be simulated and speed inhibitors were installed on the engines. It was to be a team event, with Junior's team facing off against a local team from the South side of Chicago.
Before the big event, however, Junior and this friends decided to use live ammunition and removed the speed inhibitors. To their chagrin the other team had the same idea. The battle was brief and bloody and when the smoke cleared Junior was dead, killed by a member of the other team. Much to everyone's shock the driver who killed Anton was his own fiancé! Her dirty little secret was that she was a duelist who fought under an alias.
The arena is still in use today and is called The Bachelor Pad in honor of Anton Finkle, Jr. On the inside the factory is an empty shell with the upper levels lined with balconies and catwalks from which people can watch the game. While the views are spectacular they are not without peril. On a couple of occasions a tumbling car with a weapon set to automatic fire has strafed the spectators. Despite the dangers the arena is always packed out. One unique feature is the lack of easy access to the arena itself. Cars are hoisted up on small platforms and then lowered to the arean floor.
